Laparoscopic Subtotal Hysterectomy

This is recommended for women with multiple fibroids or adenomyosis, whose families are complete and who are not intent on retaining their uterus at all costs.  We always try to acceed to patients' wishes in this respect.  It is not widely appreciated amongst the lay public that recovery from a subtotal hysterectomy is much faster than recovery from a myomectomy, be it open or laparoscopic.  This is because there is very little dead tissue left after this operation where the uterus is removed above the cervix, usually leaving the ovaries to avoid plunging the woman straight into the menopause.

The video below shows a laproscopic subtotal hysterectomy being performed.
