Laser Laparoscopy

The Diomed surgical LASER using laser energy is delivered via a flexible quartz fibre 1mm in diameter to a conical tip that produces a highly localised source of energy that can be used to cut and coagulate tissue with precise control and very limited collateral damage.

Using this instrument Mr Lower demonstrates the flexibility of this instrument in the video below, using it to divide adhesions around the Fallopian tube and ovary.

The Diomed surgical laser being used to create a neosalpingostomy on a Fallopian tube.  The laser fibre inner core is just 0.5mm in diameter allowing great precision.
